Four months in… and bowring park is delivering the goods!

Okay, I'm on it. Four months into the season and Bowring Park is still delivering. If you told me back in April we'd still be laughing, losing discs to trees, and blaming the wind, I'd have said, "Yeah... sounds about right."

We've been blessed with some absolutely cracking weather (let's not mention the odd Wednesday where everyone checked the forecast every seven minutes). The course has looked magnificent, the fairways have been kind(ish), and the rough has continued its long-standing tradition of eating perfectly good discs without so much as a thank you.

But here's the thing...

It was never really about the scores.

It's about Wednesday evenings becoming the highlight of the week.

It's about finishing work, chucking a few discs in the bag and spending a couple of hours with genuinely sound people who don't care whether you've just parked Hole 7 or thrown your drive into a tree that wasn't even remotely in play.

(We've all done it. Some of us are specialists.)

The Best Part? All the New Faces!

One of the biggest highlights this season has been seeing so many people giving disc golf a go for the very first time.

Every week we've had newcomers wandering over with that familiar look...

"So... how does this work then?"

Fast forward an hour and they're celebrating their first birdie like they've just won the World Championships, laughing at the terrible shots, applauding the good ones and already asking where they can buy their own discs.

That's exactly what we love to see.

Disc golf has this brilliant habit of getting under your skin. You arrive thinking you're just trying something different after work...

...and before you know it you're standing in your garden practising putting into the recycling bin.

Don't worry.

It happens to the best of us.

No Pressure. No Ego. Just Good People.

One thing we've always wanted Liverpool Disc Golf Community to be is welcoming.

You don't need expensive kit.

You don't need to be sporty.

You definitely don't need to know what "hyzer", "anhyzer" or "flex line" means. (Half of us still pretend we know.)

You just need to fancy a laugh.

Some weeks you'll throw the best shot of your life.

Other weeks you'll hit every tree Bowring has lovingly planted over the last hundred years.

Either way, someone will probably clap.

The Community Keeps Growing

It's been brilliant seeing regulars bringing friends, partners, kids, workmates and curious family members along.

Every new person who joins in makes the community that little bit stronger.

Some have come once just to see what all the fuss is about.

Others have become Wednesday night fixtures.

And that's the magic of it.

There's no membership test.

No judgement.

No pressure to be good.

Just people enjoying being outdoors, having a laugh and occasionally producing a shot so ridiculously good that everyone stops mid-conversation to appreciate it.

We've Had...

  • Tree kicks that somehow ended up better than the original throw.

  • Miracle putts from distances nobody expected.

  • Spectacular misses from distances nobody expected.

  • Lost discs...

  • Found discs...

  • "I definitely meant to do that" moments.

  • "Can I have another go?" moments.

  • And enough laughs to last us until next season.

Four Months Down... Plenty More to Come!

If you've been with us since the start—thank you.

If you've only joined us recently—welcome to the madness.

And if you've been thinking about coming down but keep talking yourself out of it...

This is your sign.

Come and throw a few discs.

Worst case? You spend a couple of hours in a beautiful park with some friendly people.

Best case? You discover your new favourite hobby.

Either way, we'll probably convince you to "just play one more round..."

See you on the tee.

(And if anyone asks... yes, that tree definitely moved.)
