A Beginner’s Guide to Playing Your First Liverpool Disc Golf Event

So you’ve been down for a casual round… and now you’re thinking about entering a tournament.

Nice one. This is where it gets even better.

Here’s exactly what to expect—no surprises.

Before the day

You don’t need loads of prep.

Just:

  • Wear something comfortable

  • Bring a drink (and maybe snacks)

  • Turn up a bit early so you’re not rushing

We’ll sort everything else.

When you arrive

There’ll be a mix of people:

  • Some you’ve met before

  • Some brand new

  • Some who look like they know what they’re doing (don’t worry—they’re sound)

We’ll check you in, let you know your group (your “card”), and explain how the day works.

During the round

You’ll play in a small group, usually 3–4 people.

Here’s what matters:

  • Take your throw

  • Keep track of your shots (we’ll help)

  • Encourage each other

That’s it.

No one’s expecting perfection. Everyone’s just getting round together.

The bit people worry about (but shouldn’t)

“What if I mess up?”
You will. Everyone does.

“What if I slow people down?”
You won’t. The pace is relaxed.

“What if I don’t know the rules?”
We’ll guide you as you go.

After the round

This is where the good stuff happens.

People stick around.
Talk about their best (and worst) shots.
Plan the next one.

It’s less “event finished” and more “day continues.”

Why you should do it

Because it turns disc golf from:
“Something you try”

Into:
“Something you’re part of”

👉 If you’ve played even once, you’re ready. Get involved in the next one—you’ll wish you did it sooner.
