Meet The Team - Laura

Director & Disc Golf Advocate

Laura is one of the key figures helping grow disc golf in Liverpool and the wider region. You will be familiar with Laura from one of our very early blogs. She discovered the sport after seeing it online and quickly became hooked by the challenge, creativity and welcoming community around the game.

After attending local taster sessions with Liverpool Disc Golf Community, Laura rapidly developed her skills and entered competitive tournaments within just a few weeks of starting the sport. Her dedication paid off early when she achieved a third-place podium finish in only her second competition.

Beyond playing, Laura has taken an active leadership role in growing the sport locally and became a director of Liverpool Disc Golf, helping guide the organisation’s development and community outreach. Her focus is on making disc golf accessible, inclusive and free for everyone to enjoy, particularly through the ambition to establish a permanent course in Liverpool.

Laura is passionate about the community aspect of the sport and believes disc golf has the power to connect people, encourage outdoor activity and build friendships across generations.

“Disc golf has connected me with like-minded people who share the same passion.”

Laura’s Quick Fire questions…

My Favorite Disc(s): Discraft Buzzz & Alpha Apollo
• Why: The Buzzz is a steady and reliable mid-range that holds a special place in my bag as one of the first discs I owned. Paired with the Apollo, which I use as my go-to driver, I feel confident and consistent on the course.

• My Best Throw Ever: Hole 4 at Bowring Park & Golf Course
• Why: I threw from across the walkway heading out toward the main road, navigating a tricky line that curved in just before the bus stop, and landed just a short distance from the basket.

• Most Frustrating Part of the Course: Holes Two and Three & Guarded Baskets
• Why: Even though they are relatively short and straight, the low-hanging trees make them tricky. The challenge is amplified when baskets are tucked behind or between trees and telephone poles.

• My Advice for Beginners: Keep It Simple and Have Fun
• Why: Don't take it too seriously at first, and don't overcomplicate things by buying the fanciest discs before your skills align with them. Just have fun, and add more discs and throws as you get more comfortable
