2025 season review
Liverpool Disc Golf Community 2025 Season Review
The 2025 season was a wonderful year for the Liverpool Disc Golf Community, marked by growth, grit, and a deepening passion for the sport. From the first spring drives, to the final putts under autumn skies, players of all levels came together to push boundaries and raise the bar for competitive and recreational play alike. With consistent attendance at weekly sessions, 2025 proved that Liverpool isn't just a city of football—it has aspirations to become a powerhouse in the UK disc golf scene.
Our aims and objectives - what we want to do
Liverpool Disc Golf’s Constitution sets out our objectives to promote health, wellness, happiness and community development through the learning and enjoyment of disc golf, by means of training sessions, tournaments, leagues, social events and other activities.
To help us towards our objectives, we have stated we will;
Undertake community activities to develop awareness of disc golf
Gather evidence, community opinion and experience of disc golf
Undertake fundraising activities and applications
Promote the community, our aims, objectives, activities and outcomes
In order to achieve our objectives, we have the following aims:
Promote disc golf
Develop a membership list of interested people for a club,
Develop an organisational program
Get a course in the ground
Start running simple events
Hold a general meeting and election annually
Our progress to date - a brief overview of how we got here
Liverpool Disc Golf Community was established in January 2022. After a successful first year offering weekly Disc Golf taster sessions from March to September 2022 in Sefton Park to almost 600 people, committee members met with representatives from a number of different possible locations to decide where best for us to deliver sessions. We particularly vibed with the enthusiasm and vision of the team at OneDay Regen in Bowring Park.
With OneDay Regen, we felt a strong sense of shared values and aspirations around building community spaces and activities; we felt confident that we could achieve our goals and meet our key targets as stated in our Constitution, so in the Spring of 2023, we brought our pop-up disc golf course to Bowring Park. Our first season here saw us introduce disc golf to 819 people. In addition, we were delighted to recruit new Committee members to the team.
Concurrent to our sessions at Bowring Park, we also built on our links with West Lancashire County Council and delivered weekly disc golf sessions at Beacon Park in Skelmersdale.
As a result, we planned and delivered our first PDGA Europe sanctioned tournament at Beacon Park in August 2023. Professionals, skilled Amateurs and a whole load of excited newbies who had been introduced to disc golf through our sessions entered the “Beacon Blast” and we were delighted to offer free sports massage onsite, shiny new discs from our Sponsors Alfa Discs as prizes for each division and the opportunity to play a challenging yet rewarding new course. The feedback was very positive overall and we look forward to being able to run a tournament again soon.
We ran another successful season at Bowring Park in 2024, welcoming our regular participants back and introducing more people to the delights of disc golf. We would like to thank our esteemed friend Eric Turton for his enthusiasm for the sport and his time with Liverpool Disc Golf as a Director.
Our main aim continues to be the establishment of a permanent course in Liverpool City Region. We believe there is definite scope for this to be developed as part of Bowring Park Golf Course and are hoping to continue our collaboration with One Day Regen to achieve this goal.
2025 season - where we are now
We started our third year at Bowring Park with some reflection on our impact; when we started this season in the Spring, we were delighted to encounter many “regulars” from previous years happy to see us back, eager to share a few rounds of disc golf as part of the community. We believe that we are a firm fixture in the park and have received lots of feedback that people look forward to participating in the weekly sessions.
“I think it’s great that this is here, ‘cause there’s nothing round here for us!”
“I only live over the way, I can’t believe this is here, I can’t believe Bowring put this on!”
“We don’t have loads of money to spend, it’s hard in the summer holidays to keep the kids entertained so having this for free is boss! Can we go round again?!”
”I’ve seen this on YouTube, I didn’t know I could do it here!”
We continue to meet with OneDay Regen and they have expressed interest in exploring how a permanent course may be developed at Bowring Park.
Two hour evening sessions delivered in 2025 = 20
Participants = 477
The number of participants this season reflects that we have not been able to participate in similar ad hoc sessions to those that we have in previous years, such as Easter celebration or other park events additional to our weekly sessions. 2025 figures are solely based on our Wednesday evening sessions that run from 6pm - 8pm.
Social Media review
We have developed our social media progress on Instagram and this year, we have started a TikTok account.
We have over 700 followers on Instagram. We posted at least once a week from the start of the 2025 season to advertise the weekly sessions. We have learned that video clips get the most interaction so we will concentrate on building video content.
TikTok
6,047 views
We have 64 followers on TikTok. We have not consistently posted on this platform. We’ve learned that building TikTok followers requires awareness of the trends and creating content to “jump on” accordingly.
We’ve reflected that getting social media right can be time consuming but it’s worth it! We would like to explore recruiting a social media volunteer would help us post more.
Website
We have been delighted to commission an amazing local web designer, Pixel Dynamics, to develop our website:
We are working on the content and looking forward to developing this resource in 2026.

What we’ve learned, what we are planning for next season
We’ve experienced continued growth through consistent representation and participation with our local community.
