Never played disc golf? start here!

If you’ve never heard of disc golf, don’t worry—you’re exactly who we’re writing this for.

Imagine normal golf… but instead of tiny balls, expensive clubs, and strict dress codes, you’ve got a frisbee, a park, and a group of sound people who don’t take themselves too seriously. That’s disc golf.

At Liverpool Disc Golf, we play in Bowring Park, and honestly, it’s one of the best ways to spend a couple of hours—whether you’re competitive, social, or just fancy being outside without pretending to be a runner.

So how does it actually work?

  • You throw a disc (like a frisbee) towards a metal basket

  • Each throw counts as a shot

  • Get it in the basket in as few throws as possible

  • That’s it—you’re already playing

No membership needed. No experience needed. No awkward “am I good enough for this?” moments.

What if I’m rubbish?

Perfect. Most of us were.

You’ll see:

  • First-timers accidentally launching discs sideways

  • Someone hitting a tree they were definitely aiming to avoid

  • And one person having the round of their life

That’s the magic of it. You improve quickly, but even when you’re not, it’s still a laugh.

What do I need to bring?

Honestly:

  • Yourself

  • Comfortable clothes

  • Trainers

  • Maybe get a drink at the Coach House (optional… but encouraged 🍻)

We’ve got discs you can borrow, and people will happily show you what to do. No pressure, no judgement.

What’s the vibe like?

This is the important bit.

We’re not a “serious sports club.” We’re a community. People come down on their own all the time and leave with mates.

Some come for the game.
Some come for the walk.
Some come for the post-round pint.
Most stay for all three.

When can I come?

We run regular sessions every week, and beginners are always welcome.

You don’t need to book.
You don’t need to message first.
Just turn up and we’ll sort you out.

👉 Thinking about it? Just come down. Wednesdays. 6pm-8pm. Worst case—you get some fresh air. Best case—you’ve found your new thing. We’ll see you on the tee.
